Abstract
PURPOSE: To lower the noises produced by combustion, by forming small holes in a conical flame retainer in the manner that the pitches of the small holes are small at the top end portion of the retainer located farthest from a nozzle but large at the region located near the nozzle, so that fuel can be preheated and air flow is formed into laminar flow.
CONSTITUTION: A conical flame retainer 4 formed with many small holes 3, 3' is disposed between an air supply case 1 and a nozzle 2. These small holes are formed in the flame retainer 4 in the manner that the pitches are small at the top end portion of the flame retainer 4 located farthest from the nozzle 2 but large at the region located near the nozzle 2. Since, with such as arrangement, air issued from the small holes 3, 3' are formed into uniform, laminar flow, flame thus produced is also formed into laminar flow and noises produced by combustion can be lowered resultantly. Further, since sprayed fuel is preheated wholly by flame formed by air issued from the small holes 3' located near the nozzle 2, fuel is atomized uniformly into small particles, so that the combustion speed can be rendered uniform and noises produced by combustion can be lowered.
