Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent NOx and soot from being generated in a combustion unit, by introducing hot vapor into a fuel swirl-mixing chamber, which is provided at a head portion of the combustion unit, to atomize, gasify and homogenize the fuel excellently, and subjecting the fuel to burn in a combustion chamber with lean air current therein.
CONSTITUTION: A swirl-mixing chamber 3 which is connected to a fuel atomization nozzle 1 and which consists of an annular swirler 2 is provided at a heat portion of a combustion unit. A combustion chamber 6 which consists of a liner 4 and an air swirler 5 is provided on the downstream side of the swirl-mixing chamber 3. A fuel 7 is atomized 8 in the swirl-mixing chamber 3 through the nozzle 1. On the other hand, vapor 9 is introduced into the swirler 2 along a side wall 10 to enter the swirl-mixing chamber 3 in the form of a swirl 11. Thus, the fuel atomization particles 8 are further atomized or gasified with the hot swirl 11 of vapor in the swirl-mixing chamber 3. Also, the scattering of the fuel particles 8 is promoted by the turbulent swirl 11 of vapor so that the fuel particles 8 can be spreaded uniformly.
