Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the gas blow-out at the end period of tapping and control the outlow speed of molten steel slag by inserting the discharge end of the tap hole nozzle mounted to the iron notch of a blast furnace into a freely elevatable seal pot.
CONSTITUTION: A tap hole nozzle 10 is freely attachably and detachably mounted to an iron notch 2, and a seal port 11 is inserted into the discharge port at the bottom end thereof. An emergency spout 14 is provided below the iron notch 2. When the molten iron slag level in the furnace lowers down to the level of the iron notch 2, a hydraulic cylinder 12 is operated to move the seal pot 11 upward in such a manner that the head H of the steel pot rises to more than the in-furnace pressure, thereby stopping the outflow of the molten iron slag. When the molten iron slag level returns to more than the level of the iron notch 2, the outflow of the molten iron slag is automatically resumed by the difference in the molten metal level between the inside of the furnace and the steel pot 11. The outflow speed of the molten iron slag is freely controlled by vertically moving the position of th seal pot 11 thereby changing the immersion depth of the tap hole nozzle 10.
