PURPOSE:To effectively prevent a slag from flowing out downwardly by a method wherein the atmosphere in a converter is sealed and decompressed in a steel tapping operation, particularly at the final stage of the tapping operation, so as to regulate the flow velocity of the molten steel at a taphole wherein the velocity is determined by the thickness of the slag layer, the depth of the molten steel and the difference between the pressure of the furnace atmosphere and the ambient pressure. CONSTITUTION:During when the tapping process for tapping the molten steel from the converter through the taphole 10 by tilting the furnace body 1 is progressing, and particularly at the final stage of the process, a furnace port 3 is closed.
