Abstract

PURPOSE: To smooth the ignition, attain red heat rapidly, prevent irregularity of red heat and reduce the generation of CO by a method wherein a red heat cylinder has a smaller diameter at its lower portion than at its upper portion, and the lower portion is provided with large-diametered air holes in the same manner as the upper portion.
CONSTITUTION: Only a fuel gas is fed from a nozzle 2 to a burner 1, without any mixing-in of air. Therefore, the combustion of the gas is effected as follows: air flows in from small holes provided at the lower portion of an inner flame tube 4 and outer-tube air holes 18, mixes with the fuel gas to form a gaseous mixture, which is ignited by a pilot flame (not shown) at an evaporation portion of the lower portion 5-1 of a red-heat cylinder 5. With this construction, secondary air flows upward from the clearance between the outer tube 6 and a heat-insulating cylinder 7, to promote the combustion of the combustion flame flowing out of the air holes of the upper portion 5-2 of the red-heat cylinder 5, form a flame also on the outside wall surface of the cylinder 5 and heat the cylinder 5 to red-heat. Accordingly, ignition by the pilot flame is conducted more rapidly, the red-heat cylinder 5 is made red-heat rapidly after ignition, and irregularity of red-heat is restricted.
