Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease NOx, by providing in the top of combustor a fuel evaporation pre-mixing chamber for evaporating atomized fuel with heated air in front of a combustion chamber to produce pre-mixed gas with air.
CONSTITUTION: The fuel evaporation pre-mixing chamber 14 has one end opened outside the top 9a of a combustion chamber and another end closed and cuopled to the wall of the combustion chamber. Fuel nozzles 11a, 11b are attached to the open end to supply fuel to pre-mix the evaporated fuel 13 with air 4c. The point of coupling of the closed end of the chamber 14 with the combustion chamber 9 is located at a distance of 0.5 to 1.0 time of the diameter d of the combustion chamber from the nozzle 11b installed in the center of the closed end of the combustion chamber. The pre-mixed gas is introduced into the combustion chamber 9 through a feed hole 18 to perform diluted low-temperature combustion. Thereby, a no-flame top combustion chamber 9a is defined in the pre-mixing chamber 14. As a result, an evaporation type combustor for stable combustion in a wide range of burning conditions is obtained, and NOx is greatly decreased
