Abstract

PURPOSE: An ozonizer, designed to reduce the amount of oxygen generated from an oxygen generator, feed an expelled gas from the oxygen generator to an adsorbing and desorbing column of the ozonizer, desorb O3 and immediately go into an adsorbing operation of O3, in which the oxygen is effectively used.
CONSTITUTION: Air which is dried and somewhat concentrated in an oxygen concentrator 15 is fed from a pressure regulator 17 to an oxygen generator 2, and oxygen of concentration 90wt% or more is produced. The air is then fed from a pressure regulator 5 to an ozonizer 1, partly ozonized, and fed to an adsorbing and desorbing column 31 packed with silica gel at about -60°C to adsorb the O3. An adsorbing and desorbing column 32 packed with silica gel is heated to about 0°C, and an expelled gas from the oxygen generator 2 is fed to the column 32 to desorb the O3. The column 31 is put into the desorbing operation, and the column 32 is put into the adsorbing operation. A gas expelled from the column 32 in a period in the first half of the adsorbing operation is fed by a blower 14 to the pressure regulator 17. Liquid oxygen is used for cooling the column 32, and the oxygen is fed by the blower 14 to the pressure regulator 5 with the regulation of a change-over valve 16.
