Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the yield and operate the whole process economically and efficiently by applying a special pressure equalizing process to a pressure fluctuation adsorbing method by which N2 in a gas is allowed to be adsorbed on an adsorbent to take out O2 by concn.
CONSTITUTION: This O2 concentrating method uses O2 gas staying in an adsorption bed space after finishing an adsorbing process and available as a product in the following pressure equalizing process. In this equalizing process product O2 gas is countercurrently introduced into a bed simultaneously with an O2 enriched gas contg. available O2. Accordingly, adsorbable N2 as an impurity in the O2 enriched gas is prevened from diffusing in the bed, and the extension of the adsorption front is controlled to reduce impure N2 taken out of the bed together with the O2 enriched gas. As a result, the available vol. of a bed for adsorbing and removing impure N2 is increased in the following adsorption process.
