Abstract
PURPOSE: To make cycle time shorter, adsorbents less and productivity high in a chromatography by decreasing the rate of supply of the adsorbents and superposing the parts of low concn. in the leading and trailing end parts of the solute of an adsorption band on the adjacent adsorption bands.
CONSTITUTION: In the stage of supplying a mixture and adsorbents alternately by using a column packed with the adsorbents such as zeolite, and separating an intended component from the mixture by utilizing a difference in adsorptive power, the parts of low concn. in the leading end part and/or trailing end part of the adsorption band for the intended component are superposed on the adjacent adsorption band parts by putting many hours and without supplying any adsorbent in order to obtain a small amt. of solute and adsorption and desorption are carried out. The generation of large deviations in a chromatographic curve is obviated by the superposition of the leading and trailing end parts, and there is no influence in the recovery of the intended component. Although the yield per cycle decreases, the time for one cycle is reduced, the amt. of the used adsorbents is decreased considerably and productivity is improved on the contrary.
