Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a vapor of saturation vapor temperature which is optimum for plant efficiency by a method wherein direct heat exchange is conducted between an intermediate heat-transmitting medium fed from below and a low-boiling organic medium sprayed from above in a shell of the titled heat exchanger for use in a power generation plant.
CONSTITUTION: The intermediate heat-transmitting medium is induced into an inside tank 4 via an inlet 6, is fed upwards through nozzle holes 8 of a partition wall 7 and through gaps between partition plates 9, being allowed to overflow at an opening 4a and is discharged via an oulet 2 at the bottom of the shell 1. On the other hand, the low-boiling organic medium is uniformly sprayed from nozzle holes 11a of spray nozzles 11 toward the liquid surface L of the overflowing intermediate medium. The major portion of the organic medium is evaporated by the direct heat exchange with the intermediate medium and the vapor is taken out via a vapor take-out port 3. Accordingly, the vapor nearly at the saturation vapor temperature optimum for the plant efficiency is obtained.
