Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the damage of a heat transfer tube in a heat exchanger by fastening a tube supporting plate for supporting the tube to the inner surface of an inner body forming an annular coolant passage with the outside vertical container.
CONSTITUTION: The spiral part 32 of a heat transfer tube 31 is supported through the holes 35 of four tube supporting plates 34 fastened to the inner body 13 forming an annular passage 12 with the body 1 of a vertical container 10. High temperature gas flows from an inlet nozzle 25 into the body 13 to heat the spiral part 32 of the tube 31, and then flows out of an outlet nozzle 21. Low temperature gas flows from a nozzle 18 to the tube 31 to be heated, and then flows out of the nozzle 19. Cooling gas flows from an inlet nozzle 22 into the passage 12 to cool the body 13, and then flows out between the nozzles 23 and 25. Thus, since the tensile stress hardly applies under its own weight to the plates 34, cracks, even if occurred, do not develop further, thereby eliminating the damage of the tube 31 due to the breakage of the plates 34.
