Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce titled polyester having less discoloration and wet- heat stability within a short time, by reacting a linear saturated polyester with a specified amount of carbamoyloxazoline or a oxazine compound.
CONSTITUTION: A substantially linear saturated polyester is reacted with 0.1W 10wt% based on the polyester, of a compound represented by the formula, wherein R1 is H or a monovalent organic group, R2 is a monovalent organic group, X is a bivalent organic group and the ring structure containing X is five-or six-membered. In carrying out this reaction, it is possible to lower the terminal carboxyl group content of the polyester within an extremely short time by adding a compound of the formula after the polyester has been brought to the molten state.
