Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture the iron-pentacarbonyl in high yield and with a high selectively by the reaction of a divalent iron compound and CO in an aqueous ammonia or amine solution containing an iron-pentacarbonyl extraction solvent.
CONSTITUTION: The divalent iron compound, e.g., ferrous sulfate, ferrous lactate, etc., is mixed with 2mol or more, particularly 6W15mol (based on 1g atom of iron) an ammonia or amine aqueous solution, represented as the formulas IWIII (where R1 and R2 are, respectively, H or 1W5C alkyl group, R3 and R4 are, respectively, H or 1W2C alkyl group, and n is 1 or 2), and 200W5,000g, particularly 300W3,000g (based on 1g atom of iron) of an iron-pentacarbonyl extraction solvent, e.g., pentane, benzene, etc. Then, the mixture is treated with CO gas of a pressure of 20W250kg/cm2G, particularly 50W200kg/cm2G, at 60W200°C, particularly 80W150°C, so as to cause the reaction of the divalent iron compound with CO to take place.
