Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a steroid double salt useful as antitumor agents and antibacterials, by adding a steroid solution and then a caustic soda solution and then a caustic soda solution of a water-soluble aromatic compound in methyl cellosolve.
CONSTITUTION: One molecular weight of a compound of formula I (R is formula II; R' is formula III, etc.) is dissolved in methyl cellosolve, and an equal amount of a steroid solution in methyl cellosolve is added to the solution. A caustic soda solution is then added to make the mixture alkaline, and the reaction is carried out to give the objective wine red water-soluble steroid double salt.
