Abstract

PURPOSE: A magnetic oxide material, suitable for a magnetic head, having improved noise characteristics, and prepared by adding a small amount of ZrO2 to an MnZn ferrite.
CONSTITUTION: 0.01W5.0wt% ZrO2 is added to an MnZn ferrite consisting of 21W36mol% MnO, 13W25mol% ZnO and 50W56mol% Fe2O3. The mixed powder is then calcined, pulverized, granulated, molded and fired to give a polycrystalline ferrite material. The slip noise of a magnetic tape can be reduced by preparing a magnetic head from the material.
