Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide metal tape erasing head material with good magnetic property by using a composition essentially consisting of a specific compositon of Fe2O3, MnO, and ZnO and additives of small amounts of Co2O3, CaO, and SiO2 in specific proportion.
CONSTITUTION: Manganese zinc ferrite consisting of Fe2O3 in 53W57mol%, MnO in 36W40mol%, and ZnO in 5W10mol% is mixed with additives of Co2O3 in 0.02W 0.2wt%, Cao in 0.01W0.10% (excluding 0.10%), and SiO2 in 0.005W0.02%. The mixture is preliminarily sintered in air at 800°C, grained and molded, and then subjected to the major sintering process to form magnetic material. The method provides a high-saturation magnetic flux and high initial permeability, improves temperature change of initial permeability μ, hysterisis loss factor h10, and quality factor Q, decreases residual magnetic flux Br and coercive force Hc, and enhances erase factor, distortion factor, and mold deterioration property.
