756,374. Magnetic compositions. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS - GES. Nov. 4, 1953 [Nov. 8, 1952], No. 30480/53. Class 38 (2). A ferrite composition for a magnetic core, having a loss angle related to unit permeability smaller than 0.006 over a frequency range of several hundred ketocycles, comprises Fe 2 0 3' NcO, ZnO, and CoO in the molecular ratios 50 : 16 : 34-x : x where x has a value between 0.1 and 5. A suitable composition is made by heating at 950‹ C. a mixture of iron, nickel and zinc oxides in the molecular ratios 50 : 16 : 33.8 to which 0.2 mol. per cent cobalt oxide has been added, griding, compressing into annular cores and firing below 1200‹ C. e.g. at 1050‹ C. for 2 hours. The cobalt oxide may be added as cobalt carbonate together with an organic binder for assisting in the pressing operation.
