Abstract
1,271,706. Magnetic oxides. NIPPON ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 23 Oct., 1969 [30 Oct., 1968], No. 52022/69. Heading H1H. A manganese zinc ferrite contains stannic oxide (up to 3À2% by weight) and lithium oxide (less than 0À125% by weight). The ferrite may also contain calcium oxide (less than 0À3% by weight) and silicon oxide (less than 0À04% by weight). The ferrite may be made by mixing and pulversizing in alcohol a mixture of iron oxide, manganese carbonate, zinc oxide, calcium oxide, silicon oxide, stannic acid and lithium carbonate, presintering the mixture for 4 hours at 800‹ C., pressing and then sintering for 8 hours at 1180‹ C. in an atmosphere of N 2 containing 0À4% O 2 . In one embodiment, the product is subsequently heated at 250‹ C. for 32 hours. Examples describe the effect of adding various proportions of oxides of tin, lithium, calcium and silicon to ferrites containing 32À0- 38-0 mol per cent MnO, 6À10-13À15 mol per cent ZnO and 54À40-55À90 mol per cent Fe 2 O 3 . The compositions have a quality factor tan # - < 1À3 x 10-<SP>6</SP> and a hysteresis loss factor Á L 10 < 5À0.
