Abstract
PURPOSE:To establish effective heat treatment conditions by performing preheating heating and cooling by combining atmosphere conditions and sepcific temp. and treatment time at the time of heat-treating tool steel etc. in a nonoxidative atmosphere furnace provided with a heating chamber and a cooling chamber. CONSTITUTION:Tool steel is heat-treated in an atmosphere heat treatment furnace consisting of a heating chamber 4 having electric heaters 5 and a box body 6 made of insulating materials and a cooling chamber 5 provided with a cooling fan 9. First, the inside of the heating chamber 4 is evacuated to keep the in-furnace pressure in a vacuum state of <=1 torr, and the tool steel is heated to 800-900 deg.C (Ta) within 30min (t1). After it is held for 20-30min (ta) at these temperatures, the temp. is raised to 1,000-1,100 deg.C (Tb) in 5-10min (t2), and these temperatures are maintained for 20-30min (tb), whereby the tool steel is preheated. Next, the in-furnace atmosphere is substituted with an N2 gas or inert gas atmosphere at pressure of about 300 torr, after which the temperature is raised to 1,200-1,300 deg.C (Tc) in 5-10min (t3) and the tool steel is subjected to regular heating for 10-30min (tc), after which it is put into the cooling chamber 5, where it is cooled down to 600 deg.C within 2min, thereafter it is cooled down to around 150 deg.C within 30min (t4), thence it is taken out from the cooling chamber 5 and is cooled down to ordinary temp.
