Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease the BOD in sewage and perform nitrification and denitrification of ammonia simultaneously by immersing the entire surface of the rotary disc group of a rotary disc type biochemical treating apparatus into sewage and rotating the same by means or air of oxygen-contg. gas.
CONSTITUTION: The upper part of a rotary disc type biochemical treating aerating vessel 16 is opened and a rotary disc group 14 is completely immersed into sewage. When air or oxygen-contg. gas is ejected from a diffuser 13, gas enters a cup 11 and causes the disc group P to rotate. Then, the BOD in the sewage lowers and ammonia and org. nitrogen are nitrified and denitrified. In this way, nitrification and denitrification may be performed simultaneously and economically.
