Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a rotary encoder excellent in accuracy by irradiating laser beam through the optical fiber and forming a slit of the rotary encoder. CONSTITUTION:The light laser produced from the laser device 7 passes through the optical fiber 6, and at a fixed side detecting part 5, melts and evaporates bismuth thin film 1 vapor deposited on, for example a glass disk 2, in spot through energy of the light laser to form slits. A driving motor 13, and a laser control signal 16 are controlled by a control circuit 10, and make the glass disk 2 rotate to form a prescribed pattern of slits on the disk.
