Abstract

PURPOSE:To make recording and recording monitor with low energy possible by recording recorded information as a pattern dependent upon light reflection factor change onto an information recording thin film consisting of a sulfur nitride polymer. CONSTITUTION:This recording medium 1 is formed by vacuum evaporation of information recording thin film 3 consisting of an oriented (SN)x polymer onto base 2. In case of write, the light source indicating a high absorption coefficient factor for the (SN)x polymer, namely, GaAlAs-system semiconductor laser 4 is used, and laser light 8 subjected to intensity modulation by control unit 5 is caused to go toward thin film 3 of medium 1 through mirror 6 as required and to pass through condenser lens 7, and the obtained spot is moved relatively to medium 1. By scanning dependent upon this spot, laser light 8 subjected to intensity modulation in each position sublimates thin film 3 locally to form a recording pattern.
