Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a high-reliability original disk by facilitating control over a driving current for a laser beam and by performing groove work with high precision by repeating the process of forming photoresist on a substrate and then irradiating it with the laser beam in the manufacture of an original optical disk. CONSTITUTION:On a glass disk 8, a photoresist layer 9 is formed to a thickness one-eighth as thick as the wavelength (lambda) of a laser beam. While the disk 8 is rotated, a tracking groove 10 extending to the disk 8 is made with the laser beam. Then, the 2nd lambda/8 thickness photoresist layer 11 is formed over the 1st and while the disk 8 is rotated, only an index signal groove is irradiated with the laser beam by tracking the tracking groove 10 to form a signal groove 12 and a hole 12 extending to the disk 8. The latter process is repeated at need in order to form another signal groove and hole. Thus, the resist layers are only removed with the laser beam until the groove and hole reach the disk 8, so only simple control over a driving current is required.
