Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate retrieval of information and to improve reproducibility by employing uneven phase structure for a center mark for discriminating between information sections and a rotation starting position mark for detecting one turn of an optical disk. CONSTITUTION:Each track is divided into information sections (sector) and controlled, and each sector has a sector address which is a serial number regarding the same track. The position of each sector is specified by a track address and a sector address. An optical disk 1 consists of a track part 7 having grooved guide tracks, track address information parts 8 formed previously at the guide tracks, sector marks S1-S8, a rotation starting position mark 9, and an address mark 10 which corresponds to an address part A. The track part 7 consists of an address part A and sector parts S1-S8, the address part A consists of a gap part GA and an information part DA, and the sector parts S1-S8 are composed of the gap parts G1-G8 and information part D1- D8 respectively.
