Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent a shift in track position by providing a magnetic disk with a data track and a servo track shifting in a half pitch and by further providing a magnetic head with a servo gap and data gap in one. CONSTITUTION:In part of a data track group on magnetic disk 21, servo tracks S0-S3 are interposed shifting from the data tracks by a half pitch each in the radius direction. Magnetic head 22 has a data gap and servo gap in one. At the lead-in side of head 22, servo gap Gs is provided to position head 22 on a prescribed data track. At the lead-out side, data gap Gd is provided to run the head in the center of a prescribed data track under the guidance of gap Gs. Gap Gd, therefore, run on a track without fail. This constitution prevents a shift in track position due to the deformation, etc., of the mechanism part in the device.
