Abstract
PURPOSE: To concentrate and purify the titled substance having an antiviral and antitumor activity to a high concentration, by eluting a human fibroplastic interferon adsorbed on a carrier bonded to a chelate group with a specific eluent.
CONSTITUTION: A crude human fibroplastic interferon solution is brought into contact with a carrier bonded to a chelate group in which a transition metal is chelated, and the interferon is adsorbed on the carrier, and then eluted with an eluent and recovered as an interferon solution. In the elution stage, an aqueous solution of a chelating agent, e.g. a solution of histidinesodium chloride, is used as the eluent. A carrier derived from an epoxy-activated Sepharose having the structure of the formula is preferably used as the carrier. Interferon of higher concentration than the conventional one obtained with an acidic eluent can be recovered in high yield.
