Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover interferon readily in high yields, by adsorbing a human interferon-containing aqueous solution by a specific adsorbent, followed by the eluting it in a specific solution.
CONSTITUTION: A human interferon-containing aqueous solution induced and obtained from a human derived cell(e.g., human lymph cell, human fibroblast, and human established lymphoblast) is brought into contact with a silicic acid(SiO2)- containing composition(e.g., bentonite, terra alba, and magnesium aluminosilicate) so that interferon is adsorbed by the composition. Adsorbed interferon is eluted in an aqueous solution containing a water-soluble poly-saccharide(e.g., heparin sodium, and chondroitin sulfuric acid) to recover interferon. These processes are simple and easy ones so that they are advantageous as an industrial method.
