Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve a reliability of operation of exhaust gas purifier by a method wherein a valve device for preventing a positive pressure in the intake system from acting upon the exhaust gas purifier device which is operated under a negative pressure in the intake system of an internal combustion engine having a turbo-charger. CONSTITUTION:In an internal combustion engine having an exhaust gas purifier provided with a turbo-charger and a servo-motor operated in response to a negative pressure in the intake manifold system, for example, having a device for feeding a secondary air to the exhaust system in response to a degree of the intake negative pressure, a specified valve device 10 is installed at a negative pressure transmitting passage for feeding the intake negative pressure to the servo-motor. The valve device 10 is operated such that a piston 17 and a pipe 21 are pushed down by a spring 34 and the lower end of the pipe 21 is closed by a valve means 27 by applying a positive pressure in the negative pressure chamber 20 communicating with the negative pressure transmittance passage through the inlet port 15 when the intake system shows a positive pressure and thereby blocking the transmittance of the positive pressure to the outlet port 16. While the atmospheric air is guided to the outlet port 16 by the separation of the valve body 27 from the valve seat 14d.
