Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a return flow from temporarily fluctuating and maintain an appropriate air fuel ratio when a load changes suddenly by providing a flow control valve in a blow-by gas return pipe which communicates with an intake pipe and by regurating the valve depending on the intensity of negative pressure introduced through an orifice.
CONSTITUTION: The intake manifold 14 of an engine and its crankcase not shown in the figure are connected to each other by a blow-by gas passage 22, which is equipped with a flow control valve 26 having a valve element 37 secured on a diaphragm 32 to regulate the returned quantity of gas. The negative pressure chamber 40 of the control valve 26 is connected to the intake manifold 14 through a return passage 44 having an orifice 50 to introduce intake negative pressure into the chamber 40 to open or close the valve element 37 depending on the intersity of the negative pressure. In sudden acceleration or deceleration or the like, the negative pressure is transmitted with a time lag due to the orifice 50 to delay the opening/ closing of the valve element 37.
