Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable the difference in delicate melting behaviors of a titled additive to be accurately judged and an ingot of good quality to be obtained by putting the additive for ingotting into a flat-platelike vessel of an opened top, heating this in a heating furnace under predetermined conditions then taking it out and observing the same.
CONSTITUTION: In a testing method of melting of additives for ingotting to be added into a mold at the casting, an additive 2 for ingotting is put into a flat-bottom-shaped vessel 1 of an opened top, and this is heated for a predetermined time at a predetermined temp. in a heating furnace. At the stage when the while of the additive for ingotting does not melt, said vessel 1 is taken out from the heating furnace, and the melting behaviors of the additive after cooling are observed. With this method, a sample of an amount larger than that of conventional methods may be used, and the molten part and unmolten part may be clearly identified, thus the differences in delicate melting behaviors may be accurately judged by the simple method. In this way, the ingot of good quality having a smooth and beautiful casting surface is obtained.
