Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an Al alloy sheet having superior bendability and free from a lowerig in the strength due to baking finish by continuously casting and rolling a molten Al alloy contg. a specified amount of Mn and Fe to form a plate of a predetermined thickness followed by cold rolling to a predetermined thickness.
CONSTITUTION: A molten Al alloy contg. 1W2.5wt% Mn and ≤0.3wt% Fe is continuously cast and rolled to form a 3W15mm thick plate. This plate is then cold rolled to 0.15W1mm thickness to obtain an Al alloy sheet having superior bendability and high strength. By further adding 0.1W0.3% Cu and/or 0.25W0.6% Mg to the molten alloy, the strength of the resulting Al alloy sheet is further enhanced.
