Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a thin cross-fin material with high strength and corrosion resistance by continuously casting molten Al contg. Fe and Si in a predetermined ratio and cold rolling the resulting beltlike plate followed by annealing and fin working.
CONSTITUTION: Molten Al contg. 0.2W0.7wt% Fe and 0.15W0.7wt% Si in an Fe/Si ratio of 0.8W1.5, especially 1.0W1.2 is continuously cast and rolled to form a beltlike plate. By adding a small amount of Cu and Mg besides the Fe and Si, the strength of the resulting sheet can be enhanced furthermore. The thickness of the plate is 3W15mm, especially 4W8mm. The plate is then cold rolled to 0.070W0.150mm, especially 0.090W0.120mm thickness by an ordinary method and annealed at 150W 300°C to form foil. This foil is subjected to fin working by an ordinary method to manufacture a cross-fin material.
