Abstract
PURPOSE:To minimize the variations in the performance of a dry cell by forming a wax layer on a carbon, pressing and fitting the carbon into a positive mixture, and followed by heating the carbon rod to melt the wax into the positive mixture, and thereby increasing the contact between the carbon rod and the positive mixture. CONSTITUTION:A separator 2 made of a paste layer is laid on the inner wall of a zinc can 1, and a given amount of a positive mixture 3 is packed into the space of the can 1. An upper-lid paper 4 is placed on the positive mixture 3, and they are pressed. Following that, a carbon rod 5, which is immersed in a molten paraffin wax, is pressed and fitted into the center of the positive mixture 3, before the carbon rod 5 is heated at about 90 deg.C for 60sec to melt the wax on its surface into the positive mixture 3. Next, a sealing-material layer 6, a sealing body 7 and a positive terminal plate 8 are installed, and the whole constitutes a dry cell. Consequently, the melting of the wax into the positive mixture 3 enhances the connection between the carbon rod 5 and the mixture 3, and thereby a dry cell with increased performances which has not any variations in its performances can be obtained.
