Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the resistance to liquid leakage of a battery by bending inward the rim of a cylindrical battery case having a bottom, before the bent rim is spread with the help of a bottle having a wide mouth in such a manner that the angle of the end curve is made uniform as well as the burr of the rim is directed downward, and by making the rim to be pressed into a sealing body. CONSTITUTION:A positive mixture 7, a separator 6 and a zinc negative-electrode 5 are placed in a positive case 8. Next, the opening of the case 8 is closed with a sealing body 3, an insulating ring 2, and a bottom plate 1 which also serves as a negative terminal, and the whole constitutes a cylindrical alkaline dry cell. The rim of the positive case 8 of such a battery is pressed into the sealing bidy 3, so that the rim encroaches upon the sealing body 3. The rim of the positive case 8 is curved inward by using a forming mold, before the curved part is spread with the help of a bottle having a wide mouth so as to make the angle of the end curve uniform as well as make the burr of the rim to be directed downward (inward).
