Abstract
PURPOSE:To accelerate slagging and progress desirable steel-making reaction surely and rapidly between the molten steel and molten slag by blowing foamable solvent powder, with inert gas as carrier gas, from a central nozzle, while blowing O2 from the peripheral nozzles of a porous nozzle lance. CONSTITUTION:After the middle period of converter blowing, i.e. for about 15 minutes from the start of blowing, foamable solvent powder is added into molten steel by being carried in Ar or N2 gas from a central hole 2 along with O2 blowing from the peripheral holes 3 of a lance 1. Namely, the CaCO3 in the foamable solvent added in the temperature-rising period of the molten steel at the initial period right after the start of the blowing, e.g. diamide lime decomposes rapidly to form CO2 gas. The steel bath is stirred by this CO2 gas and the CaO of a high melting point thus formed is slagged in an early time.
