Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the stirring and contact of molten metal and molten slag, prevent the excessive oxidation of Fe and accelerate dephosphorization reaction by blowing the gas composed primarily of CO2 and CO from the nozzle under the molten metal surface during blowing of steel in an oxygen top blowing converter or upon ending of the blowing.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of refining steel in the oxygen top blowing converter, the gas composed primarily of CO2 and CO is blown through the nozzle provided on the bottom or side wall of the converter for the fixed period at the final end of the oxygen blowing or upon ending of the oxygen blowing to stir the molten metal. The gas used here is the gas rich in CO2 and CO by treating the exhaust gas from metal refining furnaces and the combustion exhaust gas from various heating furnaces. The CO gas of twice the CO2 is evolved by the reaction of the C and CO2 of molten metal to improve the contact between the molten metal and molten slas and accelerate the dephosphorization reaction of molten metal as well as to suppress the oxidation of Fe, Mn, etc. and improve the yield of molten steel as well.
