Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the stirring force for steel bath, by blowing a mixed gas of oxygen with carbon dioxide into the bath during oxygen top-blowing operation period or continuously to the discharging period. CONSTITUTION:In the final period of oxygen top-blowing steel making process, carbon contained in molten steel decreases, hence generation of carbon monoxide decreases rapidly, consequently the reaction of molten steel with molten slag goes down quickly so that stirring force also goes down. Therefore the stirring force is increased by blowing a mixed gas of oxygen with carbon dioxide into the bath thereby improving the refining efficiency. As the mixed gas are used a portion of top- blown oxygen and carbon dioxide produced by the purification of exhaust gas, and 0.5-2.0 oxygen/carbon dioxide mixing ratio is preferable. It is preferable to use a nozzle provided at the bottom or side of the refining vessel in order to blow the mixed gas into the bath.
