Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the yield of iron and Mn and dephosphorization rate by top- blowing refining gases into a converter or the like and at the same time, moving a top blowing lance continuously in a manner as to draw other loci except circular motion. CONSTITUTION:In converter steel making or the like, gaseous mixture of gaseous oxygen and an inert gas is top-blown by a top blowing lance. At this same instant, the top blowing lance is continuously moved two- or three-dimensionally in a manner as to draw single or combined loci of single-stroke continuous pattern of triangular, square, elliptical, star, and spiral shapes except circular motion during refining. The stirring of molten steel slag is made easy by such lance movement, and since the CO partial pressure (Pco) during refining lowers, the %TFe in the slag can be reduced while the concn. of phosphorus on the steel is maintained at a low level, and the yield of iron is improved. In addition, %Mn is on rather a high level, and the reduction in the Mn alloy material to be added is made possible.
