Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an improved incineration of EP ashes without NOX production in a fluid layer incinerator by controlling the ash supply rate and the fuel supply rate for an auxiliary burner utilizing the temperature in the fluid layer as a signal so that the temperature in the fluid layer is maintained within a specified range.
CONSTITUTION: The EP ashes are flown down in an airstream from an EP ash hopper 107 through a pipe 122 by a rotary feeder 108 and fed into the fluid layer within the fluid layer incinerator 101 from a nozzle 119. The temperature within the fluid layer during the incineration is detected by a temperature sensor 112, which outputs a signal representing the current temperature in the layer. A control unit 114 receives the signal from the temperature sensor 112 and controls the fuel supply rate for the auxiliary burner 110 and the ash supply rate which has some delayed timing in accordance with the input signal so as to maintain the temperature in the layer within a range substantially from 700 to 750°C. In more detail, the control is such that when the temperature rises about 710°C, a valve 120 is closed and when it rises about 730°C, the rotary feeder 108 is stopped rotating.
