Abstract
PURPOSE: To dispense with a transformer and the like, to make the size of a ceramic insulator smaller, and to increase the reliability thereof by detecting the abnormal current in a conductor which the current passes by means of a magnetic resistance element built in the ceramic insulator.
CONSTITUTION: In the hollow part 1a of the insulator 1 whose upper end part supports a power line 2 is fixed a supporting rod 5 made of an organic insulation material and further in the inside end of the supporting rod 5 is provided a detecting element 3, whose lead wires 6aW6d are led putside through the inside of the supporting rod 5. In addition, the detecting element 3 is formed of the magnetic resistance element 7 and resistances R3 and R4 without a bridge circuit and at the output end 9 thereof a detection signal is generated. Accordingly, when the abnormal current flows through the power line 2 owing to the short-circuit and the like, the balance of the bridge circuit is broken by the magnetic field of the element 3 and thus the abnormality can be detected, while the size of the ceramic insulator can be reduced substantially since the detection is conducted without using the transformer and the like.
