Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve the automation of detection of liquid levels and enable liquid levels to be continuously detected by detecting the liquid levels in a storage tank such as of liquid helium or other by making use of the changes in the insulation resistance of the liquid.
CONSTITUTION: A liquid level gauge 20 is formed of a low voltage side bar form electrode 5, a high voltage side tubular electrode 4 enclosing the electrode 5, a high molecular insulation spacer material 6 electrically insulating the high and low voltage sides and a gas helium vent hole 14. When a voltage is applied to the liquid level 20 from a power source 1, the current flows into a high sensitiveity ammeter 2 from the high voltage side electrode 4 through the electrode 5 and low voltage side lead wire 3 in the liquid level gauge 20 if the liquid level of liquid helium 9 is, e.g., 10. The same holds true when the liquid levels of the liquid helium 9 are 11 to 13, thus the current values detected by the ammeter 2 change respectively and the liquid levels are thereby detected.
