Abstract

CONSTITUTION: The gas insulation substation is provided with a connection part of a high voltage conductor 2 in the internal part of the sealed vessel 1 filled with SF6 gas, and a large current flows in the conductor 2. There, a luminous flux detection device consisting of a generator 6, a photodetector 7, a temperature sensor 3, etc. is provided around the connection part of the conductor 2, and in case when a temperature has risen at the connection part of the conductor 2, the temperature sensor 3 is displaced to change the amount of a luminous flux crossing the internal part of the conductor 2 so that this variation can be detected by the photodetector 7. In this case, when an intermetallic compound having a reversible form memory effect is used as a material of the temperature sensor 3, the photodetecting amount can be suddenly varied at the maximum temperature which is allowable to the apparatus, and therefore the responsiveness of action is made swift.
