Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease slag amount and enhance the degree of freedom in using raw materials by making the ratio of gaseous oxygen as an oxygen source larger than the ratio of solid oxygen in a high Si region and making the ratio of solid oxygen larger than the ratio of gaseous oxygen in a low Si region.
CONSTITUTION: In the pretreatment of molten iron by adding gaseous oxygen and solid oxygen into molten iron, and accelerating desiliconization reaction in preference to other components, the ratio of gaseous oxygen is made larger than the ratio of addition of a solid oxygen source in the high Si region of an initial stage to accelerate de-Si and prevent the decrease in bath temperature. When the de-Si progresses to a low Si region, the addition ratio of solid oxygen is successively made larger than the ratio of gaseous oxygen. The rate of substitution of gaseous oxygen for the entire supply oxygen is set according to the predetermined empirical formula by estimating the secular change of Si during treatment from actually measured data.
