Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the general-purpose properties of a chip, by varying the word constitution with the control signal. CONSTITUTION:An associative process is performed between the retrieving data and the memory information stored in the memory, and the result of the associative process is delivered in correspondence to the word of the memory. In this case, only the word line 7 is set to 1 in the 1st cycle for the 1st word, and the higher-rank n bits within the associative memory cell array 3 are read out. Then only the word line 8 is set to 1 in the 2nd cycle to read out the lower-rank n bits within the associative memory cell array 4. In the same way, the reading is carried out for the 2nd word by setting the word lines 9 and 10 to 1 successively. The n-bit retrieving data is applied to the input line 1 in the retrieving mode, and the control circuit 15 sets the output signals 17 and 19 to 1 in the 1st cycle and then the output signals 18 and 20 to 1 in the 2nd cycle respectively. And the result of the associative process can be obtained on the coincidence detection signal lines 11-14 at every cycle.
