Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance copy quality by using a composite layer consisting of a charge generating layer contg. ZnO and a resin binder and of an org. charge carrying layer as the 1st photoconductive layer among the two photoconductive layers of an electrophotographic receptor capable of performing dichromatic copy from polychromatic original by a single exposure.
CONSTITUTION: On electrically conductive substrate 11 charge generating layer 121 consisting of ZnO, a binder resin and a sensitizer is formed, and on layer 121 org. charge carrying layer 122 is formed to provide the 1st photoconductive layer 12. On the layer 12 the 2nd photoconductive layer 14 consisting of pyrylium dye and polycarbonate is formed to obtain composite receptor 1. Layer 14 of receptor 1 has sensitivity to, for example red and transmits other color gamut, and layer 12 has sensitivity to at least light of colors trasmitted through layer 14. Receptor 1 is subjected to positive or negative primary charging and negative or positive secondary charging. Simultaneously with or immediately after the secondary charging uniform exposure is carried out to convert layers 12, 14 into a conductor. Thus, layers 12, 14 are allwed to retain charges with different polarities, respectively, and original 2 is exposed to obtain a latent image corresponding to each color part. This latent image is developed to form a dichromatic image.
