Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a 2-color copied image of black, white, and red, by forming a photoconductive layers different from each other in sensitivity to chromatic color lights, the first photoconductive layer of vapor deposited As₂Se₃ layer, and the electroconductive layer of a substrate composed of one or more of Au, Pt, and Pd.

CONSTITUTION: The electroconductive layer of substrate 1 is formed with one or more of Au, Pt, and Pd. As₂Se₃ is vapor deposited in vacuum on substrate 1 to form first photoconductive layer 2, on layer 2 second photoconductive layer 3 consisting of inorganic photoconductor such as CdS or ZnO, and a resin, or second photoconductive layer 3 consisting of a charge generating layer composed of an inorganic photoconductor and a binder, and on this layer a charge transfer layer composed of an electron donor and a binder is formed to prepare photoreceptor 1. When layer 2 is sensitive to light A (e.g., red) and layer 3 is sensitive to light B (e.g., nonred), after first negative corona charging, second corona charging is carried out, then after imagewise exposure, surface potentials corresponding to black, white, and red parts are obtained, and a 2-color image of superior red sensitivity is obtained by developing the image of these surface potentials with toners 6, 5 different in polarities.
