Abstract
PURPOSE: To eliminate the formation of any flash and deviation of mold and prolong the life of the mold by forming the upper end part of the cavity formed by the single metal mold of an inside shape gradually flaring upward and a core with sprue into the space by which excess metal is formed to the skirt end part of an insulator cap.
CONSTITUTION: The core plint 16 portion of a socket core 15 is fitted into the recess 14 of a metal mold 8 of which inside surface 9 matches the outside shape of an insulator cap 1 and flares upward. Thence, a cementing core 17 is put in the metal mold 8 and is placed on a step part 11. When molten metal is poured from a sprue 18, the molten metal flows into the cavity 2 formed by the metal die 8 and the cores 15, 17, flows in the cavity from the lower part to the upper part, ascends in the cavity part corresponding to the projecting edge 3 of the skirt 2 of the cap 1 and flows into a flow off head 19. Since the flaring part 10 of the metal mold exists in the lower part of the ingate port 21 in the lower part of the head 19, excess metal is formed there. Upon ending of the pouring work, the sprue 18 and head 19 are broken in the cooling process, thence the casting is removed from the metal mold and the excess metal is cut to obtain the product.
