Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a soft and high-strength conductive aluminum (Al alloy which is excellent in conductivity, strength, elongation characteristics, and toughness by adding specifically small amounts of Ni and Be to Al.
CONSTITUTION: An Al alloy, containing 1.0W2.0% Ni and 0.15W1.0% Be, is endowed with a high strength and a high toughness asl well as a high conductivity by dispersing an intermetallic compound, e.g., Al3Ni, NiBe, etc., into an Al matrix. When being used as a conductive Al alloy wire, an ingot is first hot-processed into a roughly drawn wire 8mm in diameter, further drawn into a finish size of 0.5mm diameter under a cold condition, and lastly energized electrically for annealing to obtain a soft conductive Al alloy material.
