Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively utilize energy in a wide running region and attain the increase in output, by integrally providing a large and a small scrolls around a turbine disc and selectively using one scroll 11 depending on the flow rate range of an engine.
CONSTITUTION: Exhaust gas discharged from cylinders through pipes divided into two groups is conducted into gas introduction sections 10a, 10b provided with a partition plate 9 for dividing and separately conducting the exhaust gas in the longitudinal direction of the shaft of a turbine disc 8. When the flow rate of the gas is small, a regulating valve 16 is swung in a direction to close the second scroll 15 to conduct the gas to the first nozzle 12 through first controlls 13a, 13b as the gas remains completely separated. When the flow rate of the gas is large, the regulating valve 16 is opened through a control unit 17 to conduct some of the gas to the second nozzle 14 through the second scroll 15.
