Abstract

PURPOSE: To continuously manufacture the composite wire at high speed, by oppositely rotating the grooved roll provided with the hollow groove at the circumferential end plane and the counter roll provided with the circumferential plane engaging with above stated hollow groove, by feeding the hollow groove with the core wire and the coating material in order to pressure weld them, and by extruding this composite material through the die.
CONSTITUTION: The groove roll 1 provided with the hollow groove 2 at its circumferential end plane, and the roll 3 provided with the flat end plane engaging with the hollow groove 2, are oppositely rotated. The soft coating material 9 like as the aluminum rod, etc., is fed into the hollow groove 2, and at the same time, the hard strip material 10 like as the stainless steel sheet, etc., is sent into the cavity 4 formed by the circumferential end plane of the roll 3 and the hollow groove 2, under the condition that the strip material 10 is tight pressed to the circumferential end plane of the roll 3. The composite material is pushed into the space 6 in the depth of the cavity 4 by the friction force between the composite material and the wall surface of the hollow groove 2, and hereby, the soft coating material 9 is pressure welded to one side of the hard strip material 10. Under this condition, the composite material is extruded through the die 7 set to the stationary die block 5 installed at the end of two rolls; hereby, the composite rod 11 is continuously manufactured at high speed.
